Uganda Projects

Uganda has a population of 45.7 million people, of which 80% are based in rural villages. Many of these communities face unimaginable challenges, including limited education, water scarcity, poverty, and inadequate healthcare.

Butwala Village, Seeta Namuganga

Butwala Village, located in Seeta Namuganga Subcounty, Mukono District, Uganda, is a rural community of about 40,000 people who rely on subsistence agriculture and small-scale trade along the Kampala-Jinja Highway. It faces incredible challenges such as limited access to quality education, scarce clean water, high poverty, and inadequate healthcare.

LIVN Global aims to address these issues through sustainable initiatives, including education support, water and sanitation projects, economic empowerment for youth and women, and improved healthcare access to enhance community well-being.

Butwala Borehole Project

Butwala Village, home to thousands of residents, exemplifies the challenges faced by many rural Ugandan communities:

  • Unsafe Water Sources: Many residents rely on polluted lakes, some infested with crocodiles, for their daily water needs, resulting in a high prevalence of waterborne illnesses like cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea

  • Health and Safety Risks: Women and children often trek long distances to collect unsafe water, exposing themselves to physical harm and reducing time for education or income-generating activities

  • Poverty and Infrastructure Gaps: With over 90% of the district’s rural population living in abject poverty, the lack of reliable water infrastructure severely hampers community development and public health

LIVN Global is spearheading a bold initiative to construct a solar-powered borehole water system in Butwala, designed to deliver clean, safe, and sustainable water access to residents of Butwala and neighboring villages. This borehole project will deliver the following benefits to Butwala village and surrounding communities.

  • Provide a safe and reliable water source for tens of thousands of people

  • Reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases significantly

  • Improve personal safety, especially for women and children

  • Free up time for education, farming, and entrepreneurship

  • Promote long-term community development and resilience.

Educational Scholarships

LIVN Global’s scholarship sponsorship initiative in Butwala village, Mukono District, transforms the lives of children from low-income families by funding their education in primary and secondary schools while establishing community-based programs to reorient and prepare them for academic success.
